In sub-democracy

What does it mean to read that only 11% of Egyptians are convinced of Saudi Arabia, the islands of Tiran and Sanafir? "Al-Rubaie said that the news is important for the press and politics, and deserved to occupy the top of the front page of Al-Shorouq newspaper issued yesterday (14/6). Its weight has no value in practice. I am talking about the results of the public opinion poll conducted by the Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research (PESERA) and that 47% of the citizens surveyed are convinced of the two Egyptian islands and 42% of the Egyptians believe it is necessary to referendum the people on the subject.
The survey included other detailed data that could not be dealt with, but the most important and most significant ones were chosen in the circumstances in question. What drew my attention at first sight in the figures is not only the high rate of dissent and the decline in the percentage of supporters, but also the large disparity between these figures and their counterparts in the House of Representatives. I know that the vote in the plenary session of Parliament has not been completed, and that the government is guaranteeing the passage of the agreement. But the vote on approving the subject in the constitutional and legislative committee has its implications. The supporters were 35 members while the opponents were only eight members. That only about 22% of the members of the committee opposed while 78% agreed. This indicates that the position of the members of the committee is in complete contrast to the attitude of the Egyptian public opinion sample, which is not surprising, but it confirms what we know about the parliament and what undermines its legitimacy. I mean, it reaffirms that it was designed to be the arm of the government and not the representative of the people. This separation places the government and the parliament on the side, society and public opinion on the other side is not without contradiction in many cases.
By the way, there is a nearby incident in the Gulf region. One of the academics tried to conduct a survey on his site to identify the position of the Gulf on the current crisis that led to the boycott of Qatar and siege, and when the responses came within hours, it was found that 65% of the Gulf reject the boycott and siege. But because the site belongs to one of the countries that took the decision to boycott it was closed in just two hours, indicating that the people in the valley and authority in another valley.
The fact is that our Arab position in Egypt and elsewhere does not respect the public opinion and does not consider it a party to the political equation. The surprise of the Egyptians is not the only one, because the list is long and includes many addresses related to domestic and foreign policy. The meeting was attended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Al-Sisi and attended by the King of Jordan and former US Secretary of State John Kerry. We learned this after several months of the Israeli press. We were surprised this week that another meeting was held in Was leaked on the subject and leaked from the office of Yitzhak Herzog, the opposition leader in the Knesset who was with Netanyahu at that meeting. Despite the importance of the news, we did not find an echo that enlightens public opinion and avoids confusion and confusion.
The public opinion in our country is a dialectical expression of speeches and articles, a paper that is used only when necessary. Therefore, the polls that are conducted are no more than the embodiment, like other modernist requirements and their excretions. These surveys have value in societies where the individual and society have a view and value, and this can only be achieved in a real democracy. As for the sub-democracy we live in, it oppresses any presence of society, and attracts only the titles and poems of the spinning in the "great people", always absent and present on occasions.
